BSP Financial Group Limited has completed its latest community project by installing a water tank with a filter, additional taps and a dedicated washbasin at Kasavu Primary School, Savusavu's oldest school.

BSP Country Head Haroon Ali said, “Each year, our branch community project program serves to enable our staff to “give back” to their local communities in line with the Bank’s corporate value of “Community & Vanua”. I am delighted to witness the significant impact this project will have in terms of the health and safety for both students and teachers here”.

oThe project was adopted by the Savusavu branch to address the school’s challenges in collaboration with the School and the Ministry f Education. “We were sad to learn that during the dry season, the school often faced prolonged periods of water cuts, while during the rainy season, water contamination was also a risk. I am proud of our staff who took on this project and volunteered their time and effort to complete it”, added Mr Ali.

The Project handover was held during the school fundraising event or “Soli” to help fund the construction of an additional staff residence. Mr Ali made a further contribution towards this initiative and said, “The effort made by the school community to maintain and develop the school is to be commended. We are pleased to support your ongoing effort to give students at this rural school access to a quality education, to help match what their peers enjoy in urban schools”.

The Head of Kasavu Primary School, Master Jitendra Sharma, expressed gratitude for the project. "We are thankful to BSP for their support which has enabled students to come to school without having to worry about water disruptions. Much more than that, we are witnessing a major drop in absenteeism because water contamination is no longer causing sickness in children”.

BSP has consistently demonstrated its commitment to supporting the Fijian community through various initiatives, including infrastructure upgrades and charitable contributions. Notable projects include the renovation of Nawaicoba Health Centre in Nadi, improvements at Namau Nursing Station in Ba, and the enhancement of Coqeloa Health Centre in Labasa. Just last week, BSP handed over a project at Navitilevu District School in Rakiraki, and earlier this year, the bank donated $100,000 for the upgrade of CWM Hospital in Suva.

Today, BSP is Fiji’s leading financial institution in Fiji, known for its diverse financial services, including banking, life and health insurance and asset finance. BSP operates Fiji’s largest banking network with 16 branches, 122 ATMs, and nearly 3000 EFTPoS terminals across the country, including rural/maritime zones.
