Colonial opens new Life & Health office
Colonial today opens another Life & Health Insurance Sales Units making it 10 the total life and health sales offices around the country.
The new City 4 Sales Unit is now located in the 2nd floor of Pacific House led by the District Sales Manager, Dorothy Ah Yuk. The new sales unit was opened by Mr Laurie Mellsop, the Managing Director of Colonial Fiji Group.
In his opening address, Mr Mellsop stated that, Colonial Life and Health Insurance is committed to providing the quality health and insurance products and services for the people of Fiji. The event was witnessed by the Management of Colonial, invited guests, clients, staff and friends of the unit.
Dorothy is the first ever woman to be appointed as one of its Sales Manager since Colonial’s inception 132 years ago. Dorothy worked with TB Clarke as a Sales Manager before she joined Colonial on 15 March 1998 as a Sales Agent. She served as a Sales Agent for the City One Sales unit for 10 years before taking up the offer to lead the City 4 Sales Unit in 2007.
In her short span of leadership, Dorothy has led City 4 sales unit from a team of 9 staff to 17. Out of the 17 staff she leads, 7 are women. She says believes that, ‘The challenge is to find the right people to be in the team.’
Dorothy attributes her success to hard work and being honest with her clients.
She also reiterated that, ‘Selling insurance is about offering the right kind of products to meet client’s needs.’
Dorothy is married with 6 beautiful children, the youngest being the only boy in the family.
